News Values
Posted on March 18, 2010 at 6:42 am by and
  • thousands of news events happen everyday
  • stories come from the: public, publicists, PR (public relations), news agencies e.g reuters, leaks and tip offs e.g police/politics, research
  • the popular press use news values to decide what news is worthy for print

NEGATIVITY  - If it is bad news it is far more likely to sell the paper. public is more interested in drama

PROXIMITY – Is it close to the area? does it involve British people? they make it seem a bit closer, it could happen to people in Britain

UNEXPECTEDNESS – Make a story sound that its fresh and new

FREQUENCY  - make it sound like the story never goes away

My Response To The “Flight of The Conchords”
Posted on September 17, 2009 at 5:42 am by and

In my opinion i would never sit at home and watch The “Flight of The Conchords” because it is different to what i watch at home and it is a parody to the kind of sitcoms that i watch at home. To be honest i think its because the cultures are different and i relate to the cultures displayed in sitcoms such as “My wife and Kids” and “All of Us.”

However i did find some of it funny espically the parts when they broke into songs. it’s different and unique and personally i found it hilarious.
